Support for Windows 7 is Ending Soon

Windows 7 Logo

As of January 14, 2020, Microsoft® will no longer be supporting Windows® 7.

What does this mean?

After the cutoff date, computers using the Windows 7 operating system will continue to function, but Microsoft will no longer offer the following:

  • Technical support
  • Software updates
  • Security updates or fixes

Without the above from Microsoft, any computer running Windows 7 will be at greater risk for viruses and malware.

Does this impact any older generation Instron® products?

Yes. Bluehill® 2 software (any version), Bluehill 3 software (v3.72 and older only), and AVE 1/SVE 1 video extensometers operate on Windows 7 and are not compatible with Windows 10 or newer operating systems. If you are using Windows 7 with any of these products, your testing system will be at greater risk after January 14, 2020.
